It is located on Cerro la Paz, in the Eastern Cordillera of the Colombian Andes, in the municipalities of Betulia and San Vicente de Chucurí, department of Santander; just two from the city of Bucaramanga.
Among the most important birds in the Reserve are the Northern Helmeted Curassow, Chestnut-bellied Amazilia, Saffron-headed Parrot, White-mantled Barbet, and the Cerulean Warbler, among others.
The road is easily accessible from Bucaramanga airport (68 km and 2 hours drive) taking a new highway west to Caserío Tienda Nueva (just below the impressive Sogamosa dam) then take a graded dirt road to the reserve via “Parador La Y” in Betulia.
The majority of the road is paved, but the final 11 km ideal require a motorbike or 4×4 vehicle.
