The Natural Reserve is located on the axis of the Western Cordillera in the El Chuscal village, belonging to the municipality of Urrao, Antioquia.
This ProAves conservation area was created in 2005, with the objective of protecting the habitat of the Sun Hummingbird (Coeligena urine) and conserving a fragment of the area of one of the Páramo ecosystems in the best state of preservation in Colombia. In an expedition carried out by ProAves in 2004, Hummingbird of the Sun was recorded, of which there was no record for more than 50 years.
